Evernote Web Clipper for Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari Browsers
In February 2005, I posted about a free note-taking program for Windows called Evernote.
Evernote is a free tool that works as a software program for your PC or Mac, preferred cell phone, and online in your favorite browser. This versatile app allows you to collect and store information from almost anywhere and access it from just about any location.
I should insert the caveat that the is an Evernote Premium which allows you more storage space online and the ability to utilize PDF files more effectively. However, I upgraded my account 5 months, paid the very reasonable fee for a year membership and have been happy with my decision ever since. The beauty of Evernote is that in all the ways you can use the tool it uses a common file format This allows you to make permanent text and graphic records that you can store online and synchronize
.
Since that time I first wrote about it four and a half years ago, Evernote has expanded and matured. Evernote has progressed to version 3.1 on Windows. The latest version of the software has significant new features. These include a spell checker (essential for me as regular readers of this blog know all too well.), file synchronization and a lot more.
Evernote Everywhere!
The folks at Evernote have also have released versions for Macintosh OSX which has features almost identical to the Windows program.
Add-ins have been developed for the all three major web browsers including Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari. And versions for major mobile phones including Windows Mobile, Apple iPhone and Touch, Blackberry and Palm Pre.
Here is an excerpt from my original post way back when. I wrote:
The guy who writes the Slacker Manager blog is a big fan of Evernote and writes about it in his post "I still dig evernote.". I found out about the latest upgrade via Life Hacker who likes the program too.
